failed nclex 4 times

Published

hello everyone, i need your advice, i took nclex 5 times and i failed. i tried to register again but the state board of nursing wanted to meet with me first. I'm in trouble, i don't know what they going ask me , pls what should i do.

I have failed 2 times already and really worried about taking it again.

I dont think you are in trouble, I mean why would you be? What state are you in? I keep trying to find how many times I can take it in WA but I cant seem to find the information anywhere. Let me know how things go.

Hi viccy,

Well, they're certainly not going to tell you to "give it up, you'll never be a nurse!" Many states allow a limited number of times you can take NCLEX before you have to take some sort of didactic refresher course. I'm in CO & they allow 3 times before a refresher course and after that you can only take it one more time.

I think you can only take it thrice in UT, too. Don't be discouraged--if you run out of chances to take it in your state, just apply in another (non-compact) state. I believe WY gives you 10 chances to take it; assuming you're no further than 5 years out of school. I was looking at WY before taking my NCLEX-RN for the 3rd time just in case I didn't pass...I did.

The only obstacle to applying in another state is the amount of money you'll be out...it can add up if you don't pass NCLEX sooner rather than later. That being said, have you thought about how you'll tackle your next attempt? If you'd like some motivation and/or prayers, you may want to look at my post "long time lurker...first time poster."

All the best to you on your next attempt. You WILL pass NCLEX!!!

Thanks for the word of encouragement, i am in Indiana and i will keep trying and see if i need to try in another state too. how do i find you.

I wouldn't worry about it too much or it will affect your ability to prepare. Find out what they want. Then prepare for, and take it again. If they want you to take a refresher course or whatever, do what they suggest. Good luck.

I found this site and I think its very well priced and pretty close to the NCLEX

at least its worth doing the 7day trial and seeing if you like it/ if it works well for you. Hope this helps :o
