Failed NCLEX RN 4 times

Published

I've tried kaplan, hurst, prep u, Saunders ... The list goes on. It seems every time I take the exam the level of difficulty rises especially since pharm only has generic names instead of both. This last time I had a tutor mentor me using prep u but I felt the question difficulty didn't match nclexs. I'm thinking about buying Kaplan question trainer again since those questions were harder. I'm near passing the past three times on almost every single category... It's just beyond frustrating. Any suggestions ? Any list of pharm drugs and precautions I could study ?

The exam difficulty increases by miniscule amounts, and only every three years. If you feel the exam is becoming more difficult, that should alert you to the fact that you are struggling with the material.

You've studied on your own....and last time had a 1:1 tutor....but still are not passing? I'm honestly not sure WHAT to recommend, since if a 1:1 tutor couldn't prepare you to pass, I don't know what would.

Have you received any suggestions for a new study plan from your nursing school?

I feel your pain. I made a huge posting last night to see what I can do different for the 4th attempt. Something has to help. You may just very well be stressed. It is a difficult exam. Dont give up! I did Kaplan before the 3rd attempt and still failed but those Questions were exactly like the Nclex!!! When I had Kaplan I watched all the videos and even made lots of notes on pharm through the videos. I wish I had suggestions but I dont. Have you tried the Lippincotts alternate style questions book? Also, the Prioritization and delegation book?

Honestly I did several Kaplan, Saunders, NCSBN, and Uworld. I failed my first attempt and hadn't used UWorld. I passed last week on my 2nd attempt and I personally think Uworld helped the most. It's set up to look identical to Nclex and the rationals were amazing as far as going over content. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to try uworld

hello, i was also a repeat test taker. i went over my content with saunders 5th edition for my base then when i felt comfortable with that i moved on to ncsbn 3wk course and studied infection control there as well as doing all the practice questions. it didnt take me long to finish the questions so i moved to kaplan q bank and i really focused on PDA by la charity. i found similar hard questions like those on the nclex.
