Sorry, but there is absolutely no reason for anyone to read the Saunder's book from cover to cover; you are not going to retain the majority of the information if you do that. One already has most of the information in their head, it is knowing how to use it.
Reading the Saunder's book unless you have been out of school more than ten years is not going to be helpful to anyone; and perhaps not even if they have been out of school for ten years, more like never practiced and they graduated that long ago.
hi! i also failed the nclex-rn exam twice. i don't know how to study anymore. the first time i took the exam, i answered 132 questions. i enrolled in kaplan plus i read the saunders 3rd ed book. the second time i took it, which was last tues only, i answered 75 questions. i used the ncsbn course and the book by lacharity. i really feel like a failure right now. pls help me!
RE: blayzin2
I had all kinds of questions.
The second time I had a lot of medication questions and prioritization of course. I took my time the second time i took the NCLEX and made sure to eliminate answers and everything but I guess that did not work/
The first time it was a lot of infection control and some meds.

Study as though you have never taken the test before. You might also want to consider doing Suzanne's Plan. Whichever method you decide I wish you good luck. :redpinkhe

Hi,
Iam new to allnurses.com and I graduated this year in Canada. I have been reading posts since July 2008 and I just found out that I failed the NCLEX the second time, I decided it was time for me to join and get some help.
Both times I took the NCLEX, I answered 75 questions which is telling me that I really have to change the way I am studying.
So here's how I prepared for both times:
The first time I prepared for the NCLEX, I answered all of the questions from NCLEX 3000 and I read the Kaplan's strategies for the exam. I also took a month review course from a Canadian recruiting agency which basically covered certain topics for the exam. I was preparing for about 2.5 months.
The second time I prepared I decided to do questions from the NCLEX CRAM CD and I also read Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment by Linda LaCharity. I decided not to overwhelm myself as much so I only prepared for about a month.
I feel that Iam comfortable with test taking strategies but that I need more review regarding the content. Both times I prepared for the NCLEX, I just answered and answered questions.
I have read numerous posts on Suzanne's Plan and I am wondering if that is the best way to go for reviewing content?? Right now I am debating if I should go along with Suzanne's Plan and the Saunder's book or if I should purchase the Kaplan Q-Bank!!! And also Iam wondering how long does it take to complete Suzanne's Plan??
I am determined to work in the U.S. some day so please help because I am not giving up.
Thanks :wink2:
