Hey everyone!
I just signed up for this site a few minutes ago; I've been here several times throughout the years but never made an account. Anyway, I took my NCLEX on February 5th and was extremely upset to find out that I had failed.
I had a NICU residency lined up that I was supposed to start in February but the job was contingent on me passing my test, so sadly I do not currently have a job or job prospects. I'm just feeling really discouraged at this point.
But, more importantly, I am re-taking my test on the 24th. I have been using Kaplan to prepare and also downloaded the NCLEX-RN Mastery app on my phone which has been pretty helpful. I still feel super nervous and not very confident... I feel like I can keep studying and studying, but the style of the questions is just so confusing to me.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for additional resources, or a cheat sheet of some kind... really anything would be lovely.
Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this!!

First off, the style of the questions is really hard to get the hang of!! But here is what I can tell you--DO NOT go back and change answers. JUST SAY NO!! Unless you mis-click, do not do it!!
Read the question, and take it at face value--in other words DO NOT start reading into questions, what-if questions....just read it and go.
Take as many of the practice tests as you can. Correct them. Look at any you got incorrect. Focus your studying on the incorrect ones.
Remember the basics. Someone needs to breathe. Someone needs to have heart function. Someone needs not be bleeding out. The 972 other things wrong with the patient pale in comparison to basic function.
Finally, know delegation. And I would see if your alma mater has NCLEX study groups, I would speak with one of your former professors (email them) and ask for some assistance in test taking.
Best wishes and let us know how it goes!!

Hello.. Sorry to hear that you didn't pass. I also used Kaplan but didn't utilize the decision tree. I felt that it stressed me out more and caused me to spend more time on the questions than necessary. I did however, complete all the q trainers and q banks. I did approximately 100q's a day. I also listened to some Hurst videos, skimmed through Saunders NCLEX prep books on subjects I got wrong in my q trainers and q banks.
I noticed that my weakness was content, so I focused on understanding rationales before moving forward. My other weakness was prioritization--- which Kaplan did help with. ABC & potential vs actual.
hope that helps :)

I am also planning to retake the NCLEX-RN this year after two failed attempts since 2012. My 2nd failure got me so bad that I didn't take another exam because I feel so defeated. Now, that I have a little one I regret the fact that I didn't listened to my husband to not give up so easily and continue because the reviews I did is still fresh in my mind. I am pretty sure it will be even tougher for me now being a working mom to concentrate on my reviews, but if others can we also CAN win the fight. I hope you'll pass the exam on 24th and God's will be done everything will be better for you and hopefully for me as well í ½í¸‰. Let us know how'd it go & good luck.
