My recommendation would not be for a book at this point, it would be for a complete review course, live and in person. An entire year has passed since you graduated, and you did not pass on your first attempt so you did not have a good understanding of what was needed back then.....which means it will be MUCH tougher for you now. Impossible? No, of course not. But you have to approach this realistically.

You need to find a review course in your area you can attend; check with your alma mater to find out where the next one is going to be held, and register.

Good luck!

Hi normagarza32,

I know how you feel because I was in the same situation as you do but plz don't give up. There are several books I would like to recommend you: kaplan strategies 2012-2013, Nclex PN Exam Cram 3rd edition and Saunders Comprehensive 4th edition.(the newest editions are better but they are so expensive) and 150 pgs study guide which I got from other student in this forum. Each person has his/her own ways to study. I don't know if these books work for you or not but they did for me. I highly recommended you to read Kaplan Strategies first b4 you start to study. It helped you to know how to do the questions. After failed 3 times, I realized that Nclex exam is not about how you memorized all diseases, interventions well but it's about how well you answer the questions. It's a critical thinking test not memorize from the book. The more you understand and do well in answer the questions, the more percentage you will pass this test. I graduated in 2012, and failed this test 3 times. The 1st time, I tried ATI as my school recommended but it didnt work for me. The 2nd and 3rd time, I tried study Saunders and Exam Cram. I tried to read and memorized so hard of diseases and there signs/symptoms, interventions but I failed. I was so depressed and didn't know where to start to study. I felt so dumb and didn't why I have been studied so hard, but none of them work for me while my friends just studied one book but passed. I was totally lost to find out the way to study, plus English is my secondary language so it was so hard for me to pass it. After read a lot comments from other students, I started realize that even thought I studied too much details, but I didn't know how to do questions. I couldn't recall my memory while I was trying to do questions. Because of that, I decided to try with Kaplan strategies that I borrowed from the library near my house to read first. It was really helpful. After I went through this book, I started to read 1-2 chapters/day from Exam Cram and did 100 questions/day from the CD that in Saunders 4th ed book and read rationals to find out where is my weakness. My scores always around 55%-60% from the previous 3 times. But after I learned the strategies how to break out questions, my scores got improved to 75%(more than I expected). I took my 4th time on Nov 19, 2014, it shut off after 85 questions. Honestly, I felt more confident for this time than the last 3 times after I got out from the test room. After I got home, I did the PVT trick and got a good pop up..YAY!!! I finally passed this test.! I'm so excited and waiting for my license :). So Plz dont give up. You can do it!!! (plz excuse my English ^.^ and gluck to you )
