I'm writing to receive some ADVICE, ENCOURAGEMENT and UPLIFTING WORDS from those who failed and passed the 2nd time....
I failed my nclex the first time after studying off saunders and lipincott...I can say I couldve studied better, but i'm afraid i'm saying that only because i failed...
Now, that I learned that "exam cram" is a great summary book off the saunders, i'm using it hand in hand with the saunders and still using lipincott cd for extra questions....
i need advice on how to study..how did you guys use the review material? how many hours did you devote to studying? how many questions did you answer a day?......i dont work, i have no kids...but i do feel like im so unorganized and i dont know how to fix myself...i'm so distraught, lost and discouraged.
majority of my class has PASSED on their first try....and i'm afraid i'm the only one who hasnt passed at all...
please help me...i already registered again, waiting on my att...

You can find examples of how people prepare throughout the NCLEX forum. First start with the mindset that you are studying as if you had never tested before. You don't want your mind to trick you into skipping material because you "think" you already know it.
I know what you mean...It's just so hard to review everything all over again knowing I failed the first try...I'm so unorganized..i hate it.

I recently took my NCLEX PN early March 2011 and I also failed the first time. I can honestly say that I let my nerves defeat me in that test. I got the full 205 and after question 85 I freaked out because all of my classmated got 85 questions and passed the first time. The second time around I felt lost and defeated and really didnt know where to start. I used Saunders to study the first time, but I didnt use it to my full abilities. The second time I used Lippincotts and Saunders Comprehensive is a great tool as well. I studied one and a half weeks before I scheduled my second exam 2 hours a day just to get in the mode of critical thinking and reasoning. Please pay attention to teaching bc that was all on my second exam. I also got the full 205 on the last exam, but this time I took breaks and didnt let my anxiety defeat me after question 85. You can do it, it takes previous knowledge, comprehension, but most of all you have to make up in your mind that you can do it. That was my major difference this time and I passed. I hope this helps you significantly. Good luck! LVN/Texas.
