Hello All,

just looking for some guidance.
I began my LPN to RN bridge at Jersey College (Teterboro) in Aug 2022 I was suppose to finish this past Friday.

however, I failed OB by .25 of a point. I took it with grace and accepted that's what it was so I repeated the class and they used my FA. I failed the class again by . 55 of a point. They are academically withdrawing me because they stated we can only repeat 2 times the same class. I did not see that policy in any of the paper work we signed or policies that were provided to us.

there are ppl who are repeating for a 3 time yet they are just kicking me out. Keep in mind that this is  my 6 out of 7th term and I've already invested 21 months and 25k.

im wondering if its worth fighting and getting an attorney if I have a case at all

thank you so much

I am so sorry you are going through this. That is very unfortunate. Have you reached out to the other students that were able to complete the courses for a 3rd time? I feel like if you get a better idea of how they were able to complete a class for the third time, it can help you make a case and determine if it's worth hiring an attorney. Wishing you the best.

Just because you "didn't see it" doesn't mean it isn't the policy.  Standards are standards.  If you don't meet them then most to all organizations will follow policy.  You could request a meeting with the department head.  I would not argue "others get treated different". There is no way to guarantee what their situation is.  Focus on your case only.  And you need actual evidence.  Not "I feel".  The medical world is probably the one area where standards are pretty absolute.  The liability of not following them can be tremendous. Good luck. And if you do get back in get the grades you need and one less thing to worry about.

I've attended this school for the LPN portion and interviewed for the RN bridge. I have two friends completing the degree this month (May 2024) in that program.
1)

They absolutely make it extra clear during orientation and after the first exam in each semester (it's hard to recover from an F). "If you're going to fail, you only get one more shot or you're out".

they lowered the pass rate because of complaints like these already. I believe it is now a 73% that is needed so that the older 75% pass has a leniency to it. It Must be true then that you have a lower than 73%.

teachers at this school are amazing but:

2) I did not return to this school for the same reason. This is a for-profit school they will do their darn best to keep students paying and to keep their amazing NCLEX pass rate.  I chose Eastwick college, and although you need an 80% or better to pass (and they both use the same resources), the staff, admin, and other students in general were a more robust, civilized group. (You and I both know that Jersey college accepted everyone that filled out an application to only fail them the first or second term) . Eastwick's selection of students were a breath of fresh air and a dedicated bunch that didn't try to cheat the system but actually learned and worked hard for their degree.

PS: Admin will take forever to answer a call or return an email. So go directly to the board above with official complaints. That's how we got stuff done during LPN. The owner of Jersey college loves to put out positive news of new openings across the country so that it drowns out all the bad reviews on Google

Write a letter. Explain yourself. Were there any obstacles or barriers that could have led to this? Perhaps they can work something out. Policies are written for something. After the first fail maybe you could have looked into this more deeply. 25K is a big deal. Try to have a meeting with the dean.
