This week has been an emotional one. The facility where I work is closing. It caught everyone off guard, even our DON. I am frustrated and angry at the whole reimbursement rate for LTC as that is why we are closing.....losing $$. I understand from a management perspective but my heart is broken for our residents.....this was there home. Their families entrusted us to care for them till they left this world and now we are going to see them leave one by one. Some will have to move far away due to bed availability.
One resident told a CNA "I have no home, this was my home and you guys are my family. Where am I going to go?"
Many tears are being shed over this great loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that. How many residents do you have? How long do they have to find another LTC?I can't imagine how hard that will be on them and their loved ones and the staff....
60days is what we have. We have 45ish residents.

I'm very sorry to hear this. The government needs to wise up and reimburse us for the care we give. This is just the beginning.
How are things going with the process?
Thanks for asking.....we are officially closed. All our residents have new homes and it honestly was worse than having them pass away. We had some ask what they had done wrong to lose their home.....some that were so confused over the commotion, some that were weaned from their anti psychotics now getting IMs due to their aggressive behaviors that we hadn't seen for months.....all so very sad. I am taking time off, not sure where to start.
