as the title states i'm extremely stressed and discouraged right now. i'm set to graduate from my community college in april and i'm beginning to start the application process and apply to schools and nursing programs. as of right now i have a cumulative gpa of 3.16 but according to my school my gpa for pre-nursing is a 3.31. i'm currently enrolled in chemistry, and this is my second time taking this class, but everything is looking good this time around. next semester i have to take a&pii, and microbiology along with a foreign language. so far all of my grades for my prerequisites courses have been a's and b's with the exception of one class which i got a c in. i have yet to take the teas but am registered to take it on november 3rd. i'm hoping that i'll do really well on this and that might help me out a little. i'm also going to start volunteering at the hospital really soon and i have my cna license. i just don't think that any school will accept me because my gpa is so low. any advice?
schools i'm looking into:
- univeristy of central florida
- florida state university
- university of alabama at birmingham
- florida gulf coast university
- university of texas san antonio
- university of north florida
i know that most schools typically accept students that have a 3.5+ and i just don't have that. i don't even think its possible for me to get my gpa up that high at this point since i'm already applying. should i just not apply? should i try to apply for the spring semester? i'm just lost and confused. any success stories of people that have been where i am?

You can get in with that GPA! I had a 3.2 when I got accepted. Apply to all of them. I am assuming Florida is as competitive as GA. If I can do it, seriously, anyone can. don't give up. Even if you get denial letters just keep plugging at it. I did, and I graduate in May. So its totally doable. GL... :)
Ahhh that is such a relief. I plan on applying to nursing schools once this semester is over and hopefully my GPA will be a little higher than it is now. I've also been studying for the TEAS like crazy to get a great score. What school are you graduating from? CONGRATS!

I believe you can do it. Knock out that TEAS score. I see that you have put so much energy into your nursing dreams. I am also a CNA and I don't know if any of the schools in Florida use interviewing in their process, but here in GA some of the schools do. Perhaps, you can highlight your CNA experience(in class, clinicals, work). Like I said before, pour your heart into studying for the TEAS. Start now. You have more than enough time. Trust me, I studied for exactly one month everyday and made a great score despite my intense fears of math.
Good luck.
I've been studying for about 2 weeks so far. I purchased the study pack from ATI so I'm hoping that by studying that and brushing up on my prereqs that I've already completed will help me. I know that UNF has an interview but I'm not sure about the other schools.

Seems like we are going to be graduating from miami dade college en april . hahaha I am applying for some of the sames universities, my gpa so far is 3.45 and i am taking anatomy and phy 2, italian 1 and sociology. Dont feel that way. I know how hard is but you ened to be focus and try to get A's in your future classes, about the chemistry class taking for a second time.. humm no good, some of the universities do no accept that. But who knows... you can do it ok.. so keep it up and be positive :)
i know my chemistry class is the one that has me really worried . i emailed all the admissions officers for my prospective schools to see if i should even apply or if that will completely eliminate me from the running? i definitely plan on getting straight a's for all of the other courses. i took a&pi in the summer and ended up getting an a in the lecture and lab so i'm happy about that. what campus are you at? your gpa is really good, did you take the teas yet?
I am in kendall campus. My friend dont even email them cus thats more stressful , go and check their online details about that. I am planning to take the teas soon but idk when lol :) I am more focus in anatomy 2 which is becoming a little hard everyday.. In chsmitry i got an A lecture B in the lab. Lecture i took in baptist hospital (honestly it was hard as f... ) , the lecture doesnt go with lab, so i had to work my a.. off for tha b in the lab :) good luck with that and get ready for the teas. I heard that the science section is quite difficult.. .. what campus are you at?
I'm also at the Kendall campus, actually I'm here now lol. I just figured out that if I get all A's in the remainder of my courses my GPA will be a 3.56 which is pretty good so I have to work my butt off to get all A's and study for the TEAS. I heard that the science is intense as well so I know my focus will have to be on that to do the best that I can. Who are you taking A&P with?
well i work here hahaha so funny :) I am taking *****, get ready if you get him you have to study but he is very good . I love his teaching style and he makes you to earn you A but with good knowledge of the human body.
Ahhh I took him for A&P1 during the summer. I actually had him for A&P2 this semester too on Tuesday and Thursday but I had to drop the class. Fighter! Lol
omg how funny we were in the same class, hahahaha i am taking him on tuesdays and thusdays, i am the one who seats in the first row agaisnt the wall, lol.. science warrior, fighter \winner lol
