I just finished nursing school as of today and while it should be an exciting time, I have been really upset after reviewing application requirements. I'm originally from MA and am looking to get my licensure in colorado. In 2013, before nursing school, I got a dui that has been expunged. I was unaware that despite the expungement I would still have to provide all information regarding the event and I am so nervous about my future and how this will affect it. I would appreciate any advice. Regarding letters of recommendation, do I have to mention to the people writing them that I need it for the bon because of a previous dui conviction? Ugh i just want to curl in a ball and cry :(

Yes you need to tell the persons you are asking to write letters on your behalf what the letters are for, if for a job or for other reasons. Don't you think they should know?

I've written a letter for a nurse with a DUI. They letter specifically has to state that you know about the event in question.
