hy there !
my name is ciobanu andrei and i have a bsc in nursing. i`m from romania, but i want to come next year in uk to apply for a postgraduate diploma course at city university of london, and after that for a msc.
my dream it`s to became a theatre nurse, but unfurtunately i have a problem. i`m hcv+, on treatment at this moment. if i will remain hcv rna negative after the treatment, i can apply for a theatre nursing job.
i sent an email to hep. c trust, and thei told me that:
"if you continue to have hep c, then any job where you may be carrying out "exposure prone procedures" - eg as a surgeon or theatre nurse then you would be prevented from working."
can you give me some examples about nursing jobs where you don`t must to do exposure prone procedures? i want to see what options do i have .
please help me !
ps: please escuse my english .... hope you will understand !
I currently work in an Occupational Health dept in a large teaching hospital. The only jobs you would not be considered for is theatre nursing and a&e. Anywhere else is ok, including itu, practice nursing, x ray ect. EPP is considered where you fingers are entering an oriface where there is blood and you cannot see your fingertips once inside.

Andrei, the only area I though of would be mental health nursing. Really don't know much about it though. I don't think I've encountered, in adult nursing, an area where no invasive procedures are being done. Even the outpatiens have attached to them minor surgery or wound care and the team rotates clinic running with minor ops and wound care.
Good luck though and I hope you'll fulfill your dream. bafta!
