It looks like I'll probably be taking A&P II online this summer...
I wanted to take it at the local CC, but the class is closed. I looked at the CC that's up by my school, but the class was at night, and it's now closed. Taking it at my school would cost an arm and a leg, and I want to avoid that...so that leaves few options. There's a CC that's an hour away and offering it...but I really don't want to spend 2 hours driving 4 days a week for 5 weeks...so online is looking like my best option right now.
What have your experiences been with taking A&P online? Good? Bad? How did everything work? I'm a bit worried about an online class such as A&P (if it were something like English, I wouldn't worry at all)...
Thanks for the input!
I am taking AP1 online now. My teacher provides powerpoint notes and we are required to read the chapter and basically "own" the material. We are given quizes in addition to tests. We also have at home experiments to do. Our lab is completely done on a computer, using simulations. I like it because I can rerun experiments over and over again if I am not sure of the conclusions. I have to take AP2 and Microbiology this summer and I thought about taking them both online. But with the shortened amount of time and having to both courses, I was a little apprehensive and am taking each in the classroom.
Studying is very time consuming. Although my teacher communicates by email if you are having a problem with something, basically, in her absence, I have to study the material over and over again until I feel like I thoroughly understand it. So I spend almost all my time on this one course.
We have 6 lecture tests and 4 lab tests, all multiple choice. Two of the tests are proctored tests and the rest are taken online, each within a 24 hr time period as listed on the syllabus, and the browser on the computer being used is locked down. You are not allowed to look at a book or notes for the answers. I feel that if I am going to be a good nurse, I better make at least an A or B in this course and know what I'm doing, and I study to know the answers. For the moment, I have an A with a month to go. I think you will do just fine.
Good luck!
I'm actually doing A&P1 online now and 2 in the fall. We meet 2 times a semester for the dissection part of labs, the rest we do through aprevealed.com. That's an incredible program. I think its probably harder online than in person, but its easier for me since I choose when I study around my family's schedule. You def. have to be disciplined, but I like it. (Plus we can speed up our prof's lecture!)
The online course I'll be taking uses aprevealed.com as well.
I feel like lab online would be much easier than lab in person. Honestly, online is how I learn all my stuff for lab in person! I mean, I'll look at the stuff in person once or twice, but for my main studying, it's all online.
I started to take A&P online but it did not work out. My teacher wanted us to memorize the whole book to the smallest details. I must say however, that I think it's because I had a bad teacher. I transfered to on campus the third week.
That sucks.
The prof for my class has absolutely great reviews on ratemyprofessor.com, so I think it'll work out well.
