I recently graduated in the spring. Nursing school is never easy. All I can say is take one day at a time and have a great group of friends to keep each other motivated. My best advice is to always take time for yourself during nursing school. Don't spend every waking hour studying, it will drive you nuts. It's important to find a balance between school and regular life. Try to make some time for yourself. When I took a break, I would usually go out walking, exercise always kept me going.
I would suggest staying really organized or as organized as you can be. You have enough going on in school as it is. It's nice to know when all of said stuff is going to happen or should happen. Staying on a schedule that includes a break from school is a definite. That way you have a little something to look forward to. Plus, being organized I think really helps reduce stress. At least it did for me. And like previous poster said find good friends that will be a good support system.
If you can afford it a PDA comes in really handy. If not Christmas is coming up thats how I got mine.
I'm still in school; although, I can tell you having support from fellow students is a must. Only nursing students know how demanding nursing school really is. I have also found this forum very helpful- lots of good info in the student section, and many others as well. I found that having at least one other student to work together with on outlines and such is also very, very helpful.
DAILY PLANNER DAILY PLANNER DAILY PLANNER DAILY PLANNER DAILY PLANNER... necessary.
Excellent advice, thanks.
I am applying to various nursing schools this semester. I've heard that the personal statement has great influence on wether or not you get accepted. I am in serious need of tips to write a strong personal statement. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks a lot in advance!!!!!!!

i graduated in march. nursing school was the hardest thing i have ever done, and just started back in aug. for my bsn. i have five children and my husband is in the military and deploys a lot. graduating was hard and i wanted to quit many times. here is how i did it. i told myself that when i graduated it would be worth it and no one could take it away from me. i made a schedule of when to study and when to clean, the kids even had a schedule of when to clean and do things and we stuck to it. i worked when i could, and my family helped out a lot. they babysat for me and would keep the kids for me when i had big tests or clinicals early in the morning (what a life saver). i think if you put your mind to it you can do anything. good luck!!!!
Find a group of study buddies who are as dedicated as you and study, ALL THE TIME, ask lots of questions, know what your grades are in each class at ALL TIMES, if you are slipping talk to an instructor, be patient with yourself, try to get good rest. I know ther is more but thats all I can think of at this moment. best of luck!
