Experience needed? LTC and Home visits

Published

Specializes in Psychiatry.

I have 5+ years experience as a nurse in LTC (currently work in Psych).

There is a job posted for LTC Hospice care in nursing homes and assisted living.

Do you get a good orientation? How does this work? thanks for any info

No one can give you a definitive answer to your question unless they have been hired by the same employer and have been oriented in the same manner that you would be oriented. Have you asked around and tried to find people who already work for this employer? Asking people who work for them, as well as asking the employer, would be your best bet for finding out info.

Okay thanks. I just thought there may be some general type of

orientation that hospice nurses do. I have never worked independently

as hospice nurses do so was wondering how it is done.

I worked in hospice in Mass, and the orientation I got couldn't have been better. And I was a new grad. Just remember, you're not out there alone. You should have many resources to draw from. Good luck,
