Expanding the role of state nursing boards!!!

Do we all participate in polls when up for license renewal? and if so, Is there anyway that the state boards of nursing could band together and make decisions based upon votes in order to better the profession and try to boost morale?

I know that the main goal of nursing boards are to protect the public. Seeing as though there maybe a positive correlation between better working conditions and better patient outcomes, do you believe that the board would ever take the added responsibility of being aggressive advocates for nurses as well as patients?

Nurse Advocacy is not the role of BONs - it is the role of our professional associations. BONs are tax-supported entities, so it would be an extreme conflict of interest to focus on anything other than protecting the citizens of that state. Join your state or specialty nursing association - they are your advocates.
