Excited!

I quit my hospital job of 9 years!

It may just be me but from my observations the long term night staff nurses have less of a "joining" attitude. I think many of them like the fact that there are less people-doctors, visitors, management around. That's one of the reasons that they choose night shift.

For me, I stayed 9 years at night because at first that was the only job I could find. Then, it became convenient that I could be around for my daughter.

At night, we used to have managers when I started. 4 years into my career we stopped having managers .... and that's when things started going south. Believe it or not, i actually like having the managers around .... because they could see my work & how hard I worked for the patients. I actually like having doctors around instead of calling them at 2-4 am.

I think of myself as a nice person with a positive attitude, and overall I am happy. There was one person there who accused me of sleeping, that I was lazy and didn't do anything at night etc. I know my job so most of the time she was ignored. Yet when I would tell the manager she would say "she doesn't say anything bad about you to me" or "I've never seen her act negative towards you or anyone else" .... of course because on the weekend when you are not there she doesn't behave. :-/

I confronted her and I said look I heard from so and so that you said this and this and she would shrug her shoulders and walk away. So I learned that "it's not me, it's her" attitude.

Anyways, i stayed in the same floor as her for 3 years. And the last 2 years I spent it in the staff pool team. So I worked all over the hospital, but mostly in NICU. I loved seeing new faces, loved seeing new types of patients, and it was a good new challenge.

Since I started 2 years ago, in 2014.. i asked to do dayshidt. No openings bc I needed weekends.

I had such a great time getting to work with different groups of nurses.

But-- with night shift comes -- me staying up on my days off and having to get up at 7am to take my daughter to school, on the weekends on Saturdays if my daughter wants to get up at 8am and not sleep in... then I don't get sleep all day before I go into work. When I am hungry I had the attitude of "I need junk food because I work so hard" and "I need to recuperate to go to the gym"... and. Not go.

From 118 lbs when I started ... and that's not even that skinny for a 5"1 woman, I am ballooned to 180lbs.

i bought turbofire, got a spinning bike & a new job so 2017 will be a new year for me!!

I started turbofire this week & I got spinning today. LOL

Sorry for the book but I type pretty fast :-)

I am so excited! I am on day 3 of turbofire, I signed up for a 5k in feb & 1/2 marathon in November - a local one.

I am spending each night at home with my little girl.

I thank God for this job.

so far I got feedback that I am doing well. :-)
