Hi all...

I am so excited, I have just found a job posting from hospital that I've always been interested in. (even though I still have another year and a half left of school until I'm an RN) I am excited.

I think I want to be a pool nurse to start off b/c I get experience from different floors and I have a better schedule:rolleyes:...NOT TO MENTION THE $

The hospital I'm interested in advertised $50/hr for night shift pool nurses...and $46 for day. Thats a lot of money:yeah:! They are also a university so discount on rn-bsn which I am interested in. YAY!

I say do not do perdiem right away, because in most areas of nursing, you need two solid years to really develop the competency needed to feel (and be) confident and work independently, which is exactly what is expected of perdiem and float nurses.

Excellent advice on this thread.

I float and do per diem/agency, but I've been a nurse for a long time.

Even so, float and/or per diem are stressful for me at times.

Most hospitals will not even let a nurse be per diem in one area- and no floating until she has at least a year's experience- and for good reason.

There is a popular saying which took me years (at least a couple in nursing anyhow), to truly comprehend:

"we don't know what we don't know"

It applies here, trust me. I have learned a LOT more as nurse than I ever did as a student. Experience is a very good, if not forgiving, teacher. No place is this much more true than in nursing.
