Hi I'm looking for some info on this. I will be an RRT and I'm looking at the AAS/RN program from Excelsior. I am in Louisiana. I've seen the user Lizz state that Louisiana only accept's LPN's. Does that mean that if I do not have an LPN prior to graduating from Excelsior I will not be able to get licensure in louisiana? Also, what is the basis for giving that status on Louisiana? I called the licensure department at excelsior and I told her I would be an RRT looking to enroll there, and she said she wasn't aware of any problems with Louisiana accepting excelsior. So, I'm getting conflicting info. Any info anyone has is appreciated.

The staff members at EC have always been helpful to me, but your best bet is ALWAYS to check with the state board itself. The Louisiana BON should be able to spell it out for you.

I did the ASn program through EC in 2001. I was an LPN. I am like 99.9% positive that in Louisiana, you must be an LPN prior to doing the EC program as far as the BON is concerned. There are some other states that will accept other disciplines doing this program, but La. is not one of them. To be totally sure, check with the La. BON, not EC. They don't always have the most up to date info on each state.
