California is a state that wont let you sit for the NCLEX-RN (as a new grad) or endorse in unless you have several years experience as a RN. It's a shame because I've worked with some Excelsior (When it was Regents College) graduates who are great nurses. As long as your home state accepts the education there should be no issue as to why someone wont hire you. If you're looking to go out of state make sure that you have several years experince just in case. Good Luck
I am enrolled in Excelsior, with only my English to complete. Why I left it for last I do not know:banghead:...however, I have taken 13 other exams and only failed Life Span 2. You get to retake but you have to wait 60 days...but get back on the horse and start with your next class.
I will not have trouble finding a job, thankfully, I am gainfully employed and getting my RN will only serve to help me in my job more. Some people ask about EC over other courses, because of the lack of clinical, however, if you are working you are always in clinical.
To success for all of us! Happy 2010:clpty:
I just started EC and will sit for Georgia. I live in Alabama but will be moving there next year. I work with a new grad RN from a very good school here and he had problems getting hired. Most hospitals are on a hiring freeze and so he had to take a job he didn't want just to make ends meet and get some experience under his belt. He and I both (I'm and LPN) jumped at this job due to all the overtime you can get. I do know Georgia has gotten better with their hiring in the Atlanta area which is where I'm seeking. But if you're an LPN now then your clinical experience will outweigh things.

I am looking into doing the lpn to rn program through excelsior, but I was just told that not many people hire RN's that graduate from Excelsior because of the lack of clinical experience.
Is this true? Has anyone else heard this, or done this program?
