Excelsior Quetions

Published

Hi all!! I am new to this, so i will try to be short and sweet. I and a few friends of mine were attending a local

University for LPN to BSN. We are on the last of our prerequisites now. Unfortunately we have learned, after a year and a half of prereqs that the will not be excepting anyone into the nursing program for 2011 due to making some changes in the program. We have taken many prereqs; English, Philosophy, Algebra, Statistics, Chemistry, Psychology, Sociology, Micro and A&P......So we are thinking of continuing our education and doing Excelsior to get our ASN and then BSN. But does anyone have any idea (ballpark) how many classes we would need to reach our goal? Thanks in advance.:nurse:

The best thing is to fill out the application, pay $75.00, submit your transcripts you will receive an "un-official evaluation" which would include the credits that they will accept.... to tell you the truth I took all the same classes that you did and all of my credits were accepted. The only classes I have to take are the nursing classes & the class call "Information Literacy" everyone must take that through them I was told. There are two classes you can take prior to enroll "Health Safety" & Transition to the Registered Professional Nurse Role." I did take them prior to enrolling. I've noticed some post about they might be adding another class, I would call them and ask more info on that... because I think it depends on how long you have been an LPN.

Welcome & good luck

Since you seem to have all of the pre-co reqs completed it looks like you'd only have the nursing classes left. So 8 would be my guess.

Thank you both very much for your reply. This has all hit my class so suddenly and now everyone is trying to figure out what to do next. I heard of Excelsior through a girl in my class. Im a little leary of online classes, but when i got on here and read all the positive posts, I thought to myself, "this may not be half bad," I would have a long way to go, but from what im reading, the CPNE scares me a little.....
