I am considering Excelsior online classes for my RN degree.
I have been an LPN for 30years..
I am a recent widow, work full time and have children at home. So quitting my job to go to school is not an option.
I am interested in opinions and thoughts in regards to the school, their programs, and testing sites.. I would have to travel 6 hours to the nearest test site..

There is a dedicated forum for this school. Most candidates must travel to the test site. In NY I believe it's Albany & Queens are the two current sites but it's a 3 day weekend not every semester. It's a ACEN center of nursing education excellence and a program designed for experienced providers who are dedicated independent learners
I would like to know if anyone else has taken their program and what they thought of it. I know the clinical is done in Albany and takes 2 three day weekends

You are misinformed. The Clinical Performance in Nursing Exam (CPNE) is one weekend, 2.5 days. There are many locations besides Albany, and you can see them here: Excelsior College | Finding a Test Site
Do yourself a HUGE favor and download and read the applicable section of the school of nursing catalog: Excelsior College | Associates Degrees Nursing | Nursing Degrees, Programs | Distance. You will save yourself a ton of headaches if you have correct information about the program up front. A lot of students don't bother to read what is published by the school, then complain that they didn't know that there was XYZ fee and that if they'd known about XYZ fee they wouldn't have opted for Excelsior.
I also wrote a couple of articles that might be helpful reading:

I am an EC graduate, from 2008. It worked well for me. It's not for everyone, but it is a great program for many. Best of luck to you! :)
