Excelsior LPN-BSN 2023

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi, I'm currently an LPN and have been for about 9yrs. I've finally decided to seriously crack down and go back for my RN. I got accepted into Excelsior's program (May 1st start date) and was just curious if anyone else is starting or has already started the program.

From what I was told you give them a health verification form u get sign from your supervisor at work. Then u only have 2 clinical's at the end of the program

I can't find any information about Excelsior's current curriculum. Can you mention the number of phases and length? Is there a faster way to complete the program or is it a specific length? I'll only be working 3 days a week during the program so I am wondering if it's at your own pace like it was back in the day.

@pediatriclpn22 there are 3 phases...depending on what you come in with will determine how fast you'll finish. It took me 1 1/2 years with my prereqs I already had. Right now the school is going through a change in curriculum to align with in person schools so everything is all ATI and they did a bad job with the rollout. It's very very costly so if you can find a more affordable school I'd said go with that option. Im currently just waiting to sit for my NCLEX, so just been studying.

Do u know if they call to verify?

@Momo53 yes you can sit for the NCLEX when you complete the associate's. Make sure you check that your state recognizes Excelsior's program. I live in NY and the school is based in NY.

I went to school for my RN already but didn't finished I got all the way to the end. Was just one class away. I gave them both transcripts for my LPN and RN ..hopefully they take as many credits I have already and I can finished faster. I just have to take the ATI. Looking to start January

1.5 years, thank you this is what I am looking for. Time frames for completing the current program. I was able to find the three phases on the site after some more digging.

And is it only 1 time u gotta give the health verification form or more than one time?

I am currently an LPN to RN student, 2 weeks away from entering Phase 2 in the Spring. The program is all ATI based, every assignment, every quiz , and test. In Nursing 104, 105 and 108 there are no proctored exams, they start in 109, the last class before phase 2. There are 3 video assignments that are pass/ fail in phase 1; Head to Toe Assessment, Medication Administration , and IV push administration, you get 2 chances to pass. There are approximately 5 ATI assignments due each week, and 1 post 2 responses, and a reflection assignment for each class. It is a lot of work, I wouldn't recommend taking more than 1 class every 8 weeks unless you are not working because it is a lot. There are 2 physical clinicals in phase 3 that are 1 weekend in length. They schedule you during the semester, so there isn't the wait time like before,  to do the CPNE which was eliminated. I'm taking 2 classes, started with 18 credits and needed 13 credits before I started the nursing classes. I'm taking 2 classes every 8 weeks until Spring I when I can only take 1, I'll graduate December 2024, 19 months in total. Hope this helps, there is a lot of miscommunication out there since this program has changed a lot on just a few months..
