Excelsior LPN-BSN 2023

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi, I'm currently an LPN and have been for about 9yrs. I've finally decided to seriously crack down and go back for my RN. I got accepted into Excelsior's program (May 1st start date) and was just curious if anyone else is starting or has already started the program.

I am currently an LPN to RN student, 2 weeks away from entering Phase 2 in the Spring. The program is all ATI based, every assignment, every quiz , and test. In Nursing 104, 105 and 108 there are no proctored exams, they start in 109, the last class before phase 2. There are 3 video assignments that are pass/ fail in phase 1; Head to Toe Assessment, Medication Administration , and IV push administration, you get 2 chances to pass. There are approximately 5 ATI assignments due each week, and 1 post 2 responses, and a reflection assignment for each class. It is a lot of work, I wouldn't recommend taking more than 1 class every 8 weeks unless you are not working because it is a lot. There are 2 physical clinicals in phase 3 that are 1 weekend in length. They schedule you during the semester, so there isn't the wait time like before,  to do the CPNE which was eliminated. I'm taking 2 classes, started with 18 credits and needed 13 credits before I started the nursing classes. I'm taking 2 classes every 8 weeks until Spring I when I can only take 1, I'll graduate December 2024, 19 months in total. Hope this helps, there is a lot of miscommunication out there since this program has changed a lot on just a few months..

19 months is not bad. How long will it be for u to finish your associates?? Can u put the month and year you started and then give me a time frame on when u gonna finish the associated portion. I did hear u can take the NCLEX once u reach that point. And then continue on to your bachelors I'm still trying to decide.

I took the TEAS in March, took my science pre-reqs again in the starting May 1st. Summer 1 and 2 ( A and P 1 and 2, Micro) because mine were more than 5 years old. I also had to take Information Technology and Cornerstone which are Excelsior requirements which totaled 13 credits. I took Cornerstone and A and P 1 Summer I 6 credits and Micro, A and P II and Information Technology Summer II 7 credits. I will graduate with the ADN Dec 2024, the bachelors is another 60 credits that I will not be taking there as I have a Bachelors Degree in another field, so I'll be doing an ADN-MSN program ( 40 credits) after I take my NCLEX.. Hope this helps!!

From what I was told you give them a health verification form u get sign from your supervisor at work. Then u only have 2 clinical's at the end of the program

Again I highly doubt you'll b able to cheat as you're implying..because you're also working against time..if you don't know the material you won't pass and it's just that simple.

What grade do u have to get to pass ?

That is great! 2 more questions... what's the grade needed to passed on the ATI? And for the health verification form.. how frequent do we have to get it signed, do they call the supervisor to confirm?

Hi do they call your job? Or the supervisor u have sign the form?

I don't believe they called my job, however My DON signed the form and I sent it in to the school.

A 70 is passing in all nursing classes. The tests are custom ATI and proctored starting in Nursing 109 which is the last Fundamentals class before entering Med Surg and Reproductive Health in phase .

ATI proctored exams are custom made by the school using the Next Gen testing that's NCLEX standard as of April 23. The school has 80 as a level 2 which is passing. It's a high standard, I take my Fundamentals proctored exam on Thursday ?
