Excelsior Graduate in california?

Published

So if i graduate from excelsior college with my RN and take boards in state that i'm living in right now and obtain RN lic. later move to california. Will California Board of nursing issue me a RN lic? I couldn't find this information anywhere in their website..so decided to ask my question here. Thanks!

Sorry, but it is not going to work that way. CA will not permit a graduate of Excelsior to get licensed in the state, whether as a new grad with initial licensure, or to endorse.

Much has already been written on this topic. Please just do a search.

If your goal is to work in CA, then suggest that you find another program. There is not one thing that you will be able to do to be able to get a license here.

No one has ever posted that they were able to do this. If you call the Board and ask, am sure that you will be told that this is not possible presently. If it were possible to do this it would pretty much be common knowledge and would be addressed on the web site. Some states place restrictions on EC graduates by requiring them to practice as RNs in another state for X amount of hours before they can endorse their license. Unfortunately CA is not one of those states.

You can work at the VA in CA.

They will sometimes license an EC grad by exception but I have no idea how frequent that is, nor what criteria they use.
