Excelsior Examinations?

Published

I am a new student to the Excelsior program. I am also a professional fire fighter and a full time father and husband. I have been able to minimize the number of required classes to 10 to complete my degree and my first class is Dev. Psych (Life-Span). I have found this program to be challenging, especially since I have not been in school for about 20 years.

My question is, when studying for the exam, what is the best material to review? Is it the text cover to cover, the chapter reviews, the chapter progress tests or a complete complement of all the above mentioned?

Please Help!!!

The best study method really is whatever works best for you? When I was taking them, I basicly used the study guide and scanned the book. Then went back and read the chapters. Took practice tests and then, scanned the book again.

I made index cards with the theries and their authors on them so I could study them whenever I had the chance. (I hate memorizing that kind of stufff)

You have to experiment and see what works best for you.

Good luck

I'm pretty much a cover-to-cover textbook person. Always afraid I'll miss some important point. Never could just "scan" and do chapter-end reviews. I also did the index cards with important notes and reminders.

It just depends on what kind of a "studier" you are... everyone has their own style and methods of what works best for them.

Wish you the best ! :)
