Excelsior exam registration wait time?

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi. I've recently began studying to take the Excelsior exam for microbiology. I probably will not be ready to test for a month but I'm concerned about registering myself too soon or too late. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if the Prometric centers usually have a waiting time before an available test date or are you generally able to test soon after registration. Thanks in advance for any input

i am interested as well but for the concepts tests. do you get to pick a date or do they pick it for you???

You get to pick your date and time from a list of open ones via the pearson website.

I am in Excelsior also. You go online to schedule at Pearsonvue(after paying on EC website) for the exam when you want to take it. Of course there has to be space available, meaning not all their computers are being used by other testers. Pearsonvue charges you something like $10 if you have a customer rep do it. The website is free. (Also check to be sure Pearsonvue is where you would go, in Ohio it is)

I found that it helps me study better if I schedule the test several weeks out. That way I dont keep putting it off!!

Hope this helps!! Good luck. I will be taking Micro soon too.;)

Micro was my first exam too. And my worst. It was all downhill from there. All done now.

I think the registration time depends on your area and how many other testing centers there are nearby versus number of colleges using Pearson. The way I did it was:

  • 1) Pay for and take form A of the Excelsior Practice exam online,
  • 2) study my head off,
  • 3) register for the Pearson exam,
  • 4) retake the Excelsior practice exam form B,
  • 5) take the real exam within 2-5 days of form B practice exam.

I had no troubles scheduling my exams, plenty of times available in my area. I would usually schedule it a week or less in advance.

Hope that helps you.

they are online at testing centers. and i will answer two more of your questions i read in other post. yes, you can take nc1 prior to enrollment. if you are a lvn your nc2 is waived, but you have to be a official student before taking nc3. the other is as of oct1 ec is reducing the credit of each exam from 4 to 3 and then there will be a new concept for a total of 8. there is also some new 3- part assessment test before the cpne. you can get around this by enrolling prior to oct1 and finishing before sept 30, 2009 . i am sure about the 2009 part but not the month and day.

so wait.....the exams arent online---they are at testing centers!?!?!?!?

thanks!
