Excelsior Essentials-Reproductive Test

Published

Of all tests to fret over this was the one for me. No experience at all in this area. The test was a breeze! I waaaay over-studied for it! Yay! I used Excelsior's study guide and looked up the stuff in the textbooks. That was it, other than drive myself nuts over worrying about passing it ;-)

I'm nuts ;-) I paid for all the tests and scheduled them two weeks apart to keep me on track, or I'm sure I'd put it off for several months, like I did for Chronicity! I printed out the study guides from the EC website. I'm doing LS One rate now, I know I am over studying, but it's a hard thing not to do! I think the big factor is that I work part time and have no kids, so I really don't have too many distractions or interruptions. I go against what is recommended, I read and read for several hours at a time. What I read is the recommended chapters from the EC study guide. I try not to focus too in detail too much. I take a few notes on things that I don't really have a clue on (which isn't much of anything), I just read the unknown stuff once, then take a break and go back to it later. I notice that if I do my reading later in the day I have much better retention of the info as well. About three days before the test, I review the study guide only, over and over. I haven't done any of the EC practice tests. I have noticed in the past that if I did (for my Crim Justice classes), I remember the wrong answers. If I do anything involving practice tests, (like I did for Chronicity) I print off the practice tests from the mystudygroup disc and circle all the right answers and then read the questions. I noticed guessing leads to higher anxiety and confusion. I used a couple of practice tests that way for Transitions, but it was really easy content to begin with. For Repro, I didn't use any practice tests.

In between my readings I am a Farmville addict ;-) It sure helps! All that repetitive mindless clicking makes a great break time!

Thanks for asking! I just barely passed the CLEP Sociology today so I am officially finished with prereq's:yeah:. I have Repro (this Fri), Transitions, Lifespan 1,2,3, that weird Info Lit course, then the FCCA and CPNE! I can't believe I am actually DOING IT:eek:! I think it is as much PERSEVERANCE as it is PERSPIRATION:bugeyes:!! Plus, learning so much on the job really helps. If I had the funds I too would try to finish all exams within the next few months. Since I have to budget, I hope to be done with exams by December and the CPNE ASAP after that.

I AM PROUD OF US ALL!!!! LPN'S ROCK:rckn:

Both of you have great plans. I work full time and have three children and a wonderful husband. My husband has pushed me to complete my studies with excelsior. I could not afford to leave my day job and go to school and take care of my family. I'm sure someone would go lacking. Oh! not to mention our ministry life. Hopefully, I could finish with all theory exams by Aug 31 or Sep 15th. It feels great to say this. I remember when I had 7 test to take. Wow! we have come a mighty long ways:D:D:D

I've dabbled a bit looking on the posts about the CPNE on here, but for the most part I have been ignoring that part. I figure I don't need to start worrying about that until I am done with these last three tests. From what I have read, I do plan on doing a workshop for that, but haven't really looked at all for one yet. I plan on taking it in Wisconsin, and it's good to see all the posts from people that have done it there.

For me it is hard not to dabble in wanting to know about the CPNE. I am really praying about this clinical. I don't know where I should test, I thought about Georgia. I really want to past this thing. By Dec or Jan I want to be an RN. Oh! do you know how the CPNE will affect your graduating if it is taking in Dec.? Does it delay your graduation date?

I don't know. Considering I've been on the "Ten Year Plan" to finish off the RN, the whole when do I graduate really don't matter to me. I do believe there is a link on EC about when what is due in order to graduate on certain dates.
