  1. I love it! Failure IS an option, and quite frankly, failure makes for much grander life experiences that you could never even think of doing! God does indeed work in mysterious ways! As for the "no harm" insulin issue, seriously people! We have all made mistakes; some have killed people, no one is perfect and it goes to show that even instructors make mistakes. And: that will be something (insulin issue) that she will carry with the rest of her life, to be never forgotten. Moral of the story-mistakes happen, failure happens, but how do you overcome it? That answer is simple to me :)
  2. I am an LPN w assoc degree and I am starting classes this fall :)
  3. I took a test every three - four weeks. I printed the study guide off Excelsior website and went off of that. Keep it simple, as most of the tests are only 160 questions or so, and it's impossible to be asked questions on everything listed in the several recommended reading textbook list.
  4. I completed all the CLEP's in September of this year and did not use any of the practice exams.
  5. 09/20/2010 11:43:23 Subject:New Policy - REPEATING EXCELSIOR COLLEGE COURSES In an effort to continuously improve our degree programs starting November 2010, enrolled undergraduate students who receive an F (or D grade in core or professional component requirements) will be notified at the time of their evaluation that they may retake the course only once. If a student receives a second F (or D grade in core or professional component requirements) the student will be notified that he/she cannot retake the course again. If the student is unsuccessful in a course that is required to be completed at Excelsior College, the advisor will let them know they cannot remain in the current degree program. The advisor will discuss other program options with the student. The student must send in a written request to transfer to a different degree program within 30 business days. There will be no fee for this transfer. If the student does not send in the transfer request within 30 days, the advisor will direct the Office of Registration and Records to transfer the student to the most suitable degree program based on the initial conversation with the student. There will be no fee for this transfer. Please contact an advisor if you have any questions. Dana Offerman, PhD. Provost and Chief Academic Officer
  6. Fyi check your inbox with Excelsior....new rules state you are only allowed to fail a test once...
  7. Well I sure liked 'em, but I'm just starting to study for the CPNE...
  8. I've wondered about that class as well, it's the only pre-req I'll need to do for a BSN. The thought of any math scares me, because of my dyslexia, thinking I might be better off doing it locally in a actual class...
  9. It really is all a blur, I had just about all the pre-req's done already cuz I'm a professional student ;-) I didn't look at the big picture, I scheduled the exams on a rather quick timeline and focused on just that one, then moved onto the next one. Can't say I spent more than 3-4 days studying for each exam either. The outline broke it down-the percentage per area on the test. Example: LS 3 had four content areas, all 25% each. Spent one day on each section. I didn't do any practice tests either. Went in and took the test. Take your time with the tests. Have a rationale for every answer, why (out of the four possible choices) the one you pick is the best, and the easiest way to do that is to figure out why the other three possible answers aren't as good as the one you choose. Out of all the tests, the Life Span series were the most challenging, not in as much as for content, but to me, I had to really stop and think from the role of what would an RN do, not (where my comfort zone is) from a LPN view. That in itself really opens up your eyes on a whole different way of looking at things. And Cathy, seems like we've been neck-to-neck in this journey ;-)
  10. I signed up for EC in Oct 2009, worked like a fool and banked up $ all the test fees and whatnot and started testing in May 2010, completed all Sept 2010. I ignored everyone, hid in my cave and kept glued to the study guides to keep me on track. Not an easy task, didn't have much of a summer, but it was well worth it.
  11. When will / are you done with all the tests?
  12. Went and took it yesterday-it was my last test...passed! Man I couldn't wait to get this one done with! The people at Pearson-Vue are awesome, they sure know how to keep people's stress levels down to a minimum. Ironic, I have read many posts on here that say once ya get all the tests done with, that's only half the battle / the easy part, the real stress starts now. I thought those posters were crazy, cuz them tests sure stressed me out, but now; I totally agree ;-)
  13. Study guides from Excelsior College is all you need for their tests. The study guide lists the recommended books as well, I get the older editions of the books to save even more $.
  14. I found it to be a fairly easy test. All of them are, with the exceptions of the Life Span Series-because there is a lot of material to cover for those three.
