Here in OH I have never once been asked where I obtained my LPN at. My current employer says the same thing that it is only important that you passed your boards they do not generally ask from where you recieved your education. Just make certain that your state will allow excelsior students to sit for the boards. State board of nursing can tell you that. Good Luck I am sure you will do fine.
Originally posted by TNcanNURSEI have also heard that IL doesn't recognize it. There seems to be a big to-do over CA right now----I think its still undecided whether they will continue to acknowledge EC grads or not.
As far as I know you are good to go in the other 48 states.
Here in TN EC is perfectly accepted.
That cracks me up about CA. Since they allow CNAs with 6 years experience to challenge the LVN board. AND those who get their CA LVN in this way CANNOT transfer thier license to anyother state. So now CA is getting too good for Excelsior? Sounds like the craziness of CA.
No disrespect intended toward CA LVNs who got thier LVN by challenging the board. My hat is off to you for having what it took to pass without the formal education.
Since CA has the west coast testing facility for Excelsior performance exams I wonder what Excelsior is doing to find facilities in another western state. NV maybe???

Hi everyone, I see that this site is so active, I know I can get some good information.
I am an LPN right now working in LTC, but desperate to get my RN (before I get too old..lol).
I am seriously considering Excelsior, have all their information and everything, just scared to make that final plunge. I guess my main drawback is how acceptable is the RN license considered when I apply for a job.
My hubby is air force that is why I need something like this, just in case we move yet once again.
Well I would appreciate any info....
Thanks...Deborah
p.s. By the way, are there any English nurses out there. I am from London and would love to hear from anyone from the "old country"..
