Is it possible for non-nursing students/ non-nurses to take any of the EC nursing exams (outside of the excelsior programs) just to learn ?

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

For the majority of the exams, you have to apply, be admitted, and pay an enrollment fee. If you don't meet the criteria to be accepted to the program, you won't be able to register for exams. EC does offer plenty of non-nursing courses and degrees, though.

Also, if you would like to learn about Nursing, perhaps buy a 'Fundamentals of Nursing' textbook from Ebay or Amazon (used). There is a LOT to learn, and perhaps that might spark your interest to enroll in a traditional Nursing Program... Good luck!! :)

Thanks for the advise. I have purchased many of the recommended books for the EC exams as well as other nursing books including ATI materials.I was accepted to an LPN program, but unable to enroll due to extenuating circumstances and chronic illness I wasn't able to attend. I have a non-nursing undergraduate degree but I struggled with math and science. I want to see how well I can comprehend coursework (and handle the coursework and chronic illness) and then determine if I want to apply to a nursing program.
