I just got off the phone with an advisor at the college and I thought I would share what I learned just in case any of you have the same questions.

I am an LPN and I have been working as an LPN since 2011. Does this meet the employment requirement for eligibility?

There are 3 requirements:

-TEAS

-transcripts

-verification of healthcare experience form. 200 hours of work as an LPN

I am currently in nursing school. Can I transfer the credits I have already completed?

No.

I am from Virginia. I see that the state of VA issues a provisional license. How does that work?

You will need a job that will allow me to work as a provisional RN. About 10 weeks.

I have taken the TEAS in the past. Will I have to retake it for this school?

The TEAS exam is only good for 1 year.

Where does the nursing theory conference exam take place?

Tests are in: New York. Pennsylvania, Texas or Wisconsin. There is a 1 year wait list.

You will have to teach yourself the skills.

How do the courses work?

Courses are delivered through blackboard.

No live courses. You will have quizzes and discussions to complete on blackboard. The exams are done at a Pearson View testing center.

8 week terms.

How much is it?

$510/credit

$10,000-$11,000 tuition

Did you mean the clinical perfomnce exam instead of nursing theroy conference? The ntcx exams are different than the clinical. You can take courses or the conference exams or just the exams. The exams are like $110 - 355.oo so tuition is only like $6000 total including the clinical and depending on what requisites you need.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

You are describing the Clinical Performance in Nursing Exam (CPNE). Not a theory exam.

Also, the exams are a flat fee, not $510/credit; that only applies to courses, so it is possible to greatly decrease the overall tuition. I think my total was about $6K. That information is here: Excelsior College Costs & Financing for Nurses - Excelsior College - excelsior.edu
