Has anyone graduated from an Excelsior College nursing program? If so, can you address the following questions?
- How long did the program take you?
- How much did it cost (ballpark figure)?
- How difficult did you find the clinical portion?
I'm interested to know if anyone has had a positive experience.. There are plenty of negative stories bouncing around on this site and others...
Graduated Excelsior May 2009 spent around 10 to 12 thousand dollars clinicals not that bad if you stay calm and focused highly recomend taking a work shop.
Currently working on my BSN with plans of going to graduate school. Excelsior is possible do not let CPNE horror stories freak you out but do take the CPNE serouisly only 65 % of people pass it first time around and thank heavens I was one of them.
Graduated within one years time. If you take an exam every one to two months this is possible you must be very focused I dedicated one to two hours daily for studying recomand you take the practice exams they help a lot. To save money get the recommended books from the libarary book exchange program. The books can be an expense but the libarary is always FREE.
GOODLUCK STAY FOCUSED
No problem with employment -- I was offered an RN position in the same ED where I'd been a tech for a few years. I believe the job offer went like this: "We're not letting you leave." And yes, I worked full time, did some freelance graphic design, and also continued to volunteer as a paramedic while I did Excelsior.
I'm in Excelsior right now, and have full confidence in my ability to get a job when I finish. I work full time night shift and have 5 children and am doing it. My mother did the program back when it was called Regency, and she has never been questioned about how she got her degree and she has never been without a good job.
I'm in Ohio, btw. And I started Excelsior last April. However, all I had to do was A&P and my nursing classes, FCCA and CPNE. I'm preparing for my CPNE right now. I guess I could have gone faster, but I really enjoy my family and like looking at their sweet faces on a daily basis. LOL.
