Hello all, it's awfully quiet in the "specialties" section, so trying here instead:
For those of you with VA-BC, how did you study and succeed?
I have 9 years perioperative/OR experience and about 1 year IV therapy (including port access) and 3 years phlebotomy experience. I already have the AVA Resource Guide, which the test is based on, but I am looking for additional resources, such as online CEU classes.
Pedagogy institute looks good, but expensive. Pearlsreview also has similar CEU classes on IV therapy and vascular access, for a fraction of the price. Are these good sources?
Hypothetically, do you think spending $250 (Pedagogy's "IV therapy package") on a solid set of 30 CEU's to prepare for the VA-BC is overkill? What if being on the vascular access team is your dream job and they want you to have VA-BC to get the job, but the test isn't available until June? I am thinking if I show the nurse manager my drive and steps I am taking to get the VA-BC, that might help both prepare me and show her I am serious...
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!!
