About a one to two years ago, I was in the nursing program at West Coast University. I was forced to go to that school because my mom wanted me to be a nurse but I wanted to be a doctor all my life. Done my prereqs with straight As until I entered the Nursing program. I only lasted through two terms, and I failed Medsurge clinical and pharmacology and got kicked out of the school. I decided to go back to a community college to do some soul searching then transfered to a 4 year university. I've got straight As in the upper division science classes. I am currently shadowing a doctor, help run a food kitchen, work as a CNA(did something with my nursing school) and have a 3.6gpa and 3.7sgpa and MCAT score of 35. I want to be atleast be a DO ( doctor of osteopathic medicine) but I feel that the nursing classes I failed, Pharmcology and Medsurge clinical. I want to retake these classes because I am afraid that they will reject me because I got a D in those classes(you're able to replace the old grades with new grades in DO school) but I have no clue on how to replace those grades. I really do respect the Nursing field but I felt that it isn't for me and I should of shadow one and told told my mom how I felt before I entered West Coast. I now shadow a doctor, and shadowing him made me realize that being doctor was for me. Should I enter the nursing program to atleast retake those two classes that I failed then drop out of that nursing school or take a chance and apply to DO school

Your 35 on the MCAT should overshadow the failures in classes that medical schools will probably consider irrelevant. Additionally, I bet it would be very difficult to find a nursing program that will admit you just to retake those classes, and it's a little unfair to take up a spot in a program that someone else could use. DO schools traditionally have less applicants (they make up only about 11% of physicians entering the workforce), so you will probably face less competition in the applicant pool.
Thank you! Cerriwin, I actuallly got a spot in the Nursing program but like you said it will be unfair to the people who worked all their lives to be a Nurse or have a spot in the Nursing program. My plan was to take the classes I failed then withdraw from the nursing program. But hopefully, my credientials I have right now will gain me entrance to a DO school.
