Evolve HESI Book Should I or Shouldn't I?

Published

Hello all-

I am looking at this book (link below) titled: Evolve Reach Testing and Remediation Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination (Evolve Reach Testing & Remediation Comprehensive Review).

http://www.amazon.com/Testing-Remediation-Comprehensive-NCLEX-RN%C3%82%C2%AE-Examination/dp/1416047751/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266775456&sr=8-2

Has anyone used this book and if so is it a yay or nay? I'm pondering adding it to my collection for studying for the HESI exit exam.

Version 2? I didn't know there was more than 1 version of it?

Specializes in NICU.

I bought the hesi book and cd. Complete waste of time and money. Did not help me one bit. It's a great reference book, but did not help me on hesi whatsoever. I can say that 2 questions off of the cd ended up on one of my exams. *shrug*

If you bought it because you want to use it to study for HESI (long term), it's a waste of money. You are better off buying the Review and Rationales by Mary Hogan. I personally loved it, and passed HESI and NCLEX the first time. (My school is one of the crazy ones that require 950 to pass)

Now, if you are short on time, and you just want something to brush up on the important parts of Maternity, Peds, and Psych, by all means it's a decent book. As someone mentioned before, if you are doing the practice HESI questions, and you are hitting 70%, don't panic. We actually talked to one of our professors, who didn't outright say it, but if you are hitting above 70%, your chances are good.

With that said, I would suggest you check out your school's library, they may have that EVOLVE book you can borrow. As long as you have the time, get the Hogan book. I personally found Saunders' questions a little too easy for my taste.

As far as I know there is at least 6 versions of HESI. I had Version 6 for my final HESI.

my class chipped in and bought a hesi cd with online access to hesi questions

$$$$$ made lots of copies

found it very useful and did great on hesi and nclex

Do you still have copies of the practice exams or questions? can you please email them to me it would help alot
