Evidence Base Practice: Diabetes + RN Education efforts

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the right Blog to post my querry, but I need help.

Our group is presenting Diabetes Type 2 for our Med-Surge class. The presentation is requiring that we give Evidence Base Practice. I am having some difficulty finding an article(s) where it shows that patients under the care of nurses have a better outcome with their disease when it comes to compliance, and knowlegde of their disease. If someone can be so kind to direct me to those sources it would be awesome. We have a great presentation :yeah:that it is finished we just need to present a very good case on the importance of nurses in caring for patients with this disease.

This is not really the right thread for this post, but I'll give you a quick reply anyhow. The first thing I'd tell you is that you need to go to a resource database like pubmed, medline, etc. Your school or library should give you access to such a thing because without it it's quite difficult to find scholarly articles where you can get the full text. As for your question, there's a lot out there you just need to decide on an optimal phrase or set of keywords that will flush out the articles you need - it sounds like what you're really trying to 'prove' is that pt education, from nurses, is a predictor of successful management of diabetes. Think about what question researchers might be asking that would lead to the conclusion you're interested in.

Fyi though, I have to mention, in reality, when you're doing research you need a question before a conclusion, it's not great practice to decide on something and then look for things to back it up, it leads to positive result bias.

First, this isn't a blog; it's a thread.

Second, there is no correct thread for you to post in asking for nurses to do your homework for you.

Google (or use google scholar) Type II diabetes and do the work yourself. Stop being a lazy.

Also, way to be too lazy to take 3 minutes and check out the site. If you had, you would have found the appropriate forum to post this in.
