Did anyone get an acceptance letter yet?

Hi guys,

Hi trouss, Is this possible that we are allowed to give exam in other centers ,if we want to.I saw San-Jose state university also taking paper-based TEAS exam.I believe paper-based is more convenient for me.Actually its very comfortable also giving exam outside because of less pressure.

You can take the TEAS anywhere, but I'm 99.9% sure there's no more paper exams.. I could be wrong though. Some community colleges offer it for free. I had to pay $100 though because I wasn't aware at the time.

Yes. If you take your TEAS and pass elsewhere, all you need to do is send in your score report transcript to the EVC nursing coordinator. The first time I took the exam I took it online, and tomorrow I will be taking it on paper, so I will see how it differs. However, I would think that EVC will offer both types of exams and would be significantly cheaper. For SJSU, the exam is 50$ and they only offer the paper-based version of the exam. If you take it at EVC the fee may be waived and also you wouldn't have to pay the 27$ to send in your score report.

HI thank trouss and Heatheroh, I really appreciate your Help.

Hi trouss,How was the paper-based exam?Which study material you used for study?Actually I am little scared.I heard Reading and English language hard part.

Thanks, again I really appreciate help.

Hey RKMaini,

So I really felt like the paper version was a lot easier than the computer-based exam. I had a lot of repeat questions that were the exact same from the computer test that I took. The English and Reading sections weren't terrible, but they were the hardest part of the exam in my opinion and I feel like I am really good at English and Reading. The sections are more about "rules of English" like subject-verb agreement, spelling, punctuation, and understanding what the main ideas of passages are. However, one thing that I didn't like about the paper based test was the fact that you have to sit through the whole entire test. With the computer test, everything was at my own pace and I was able to go forward to the next section once I was finished with the section I was working on. Also, after each section I was able to get up and stretch, use the bathroom, etc. For the paper exam at SJSU, you have to wait for the entire class to be done to move onto the next section and you do not get to take a break between each section. If you have to use the bathroom during a section it takes away from your time on that section. We had a 10 minute break after the second section and at that time I began feeling hungry and crampy, so I definitely recommend bringing a snack! ;)

I bought the ATI Test Prep package but it was $200+. I do feel like it really did help me overall. I also bought the Mometrix Test Prep TEAS Secrets study guide off of Amazon and it contains a lot of great information. However, I do feel like that study guide is a little bit too dense and you do not need to know everything that the guide provides. If you're tight on money, I would recommend the ATI Teas Study Guide from their website and use that as a GUIDE. It does not go as in depth as the actual TEAS exam, but you can use it as a baseline and then use Youtube videos to go further into detail for material you do not understand. Those are the tips I did for the first exam and I scored an 84.7, so not too bad. I will let you guys know what I get on the exam I took today. I'm really aiming for a 90 because my top choice for nursing school is SJSU. Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions!! :)

Hi,Trouss,Thanks For explaining everything.I appreciate your valuable time and help.I bought ATI test prep package.

I practiced one exam and I got less score in math .I stuck in words problems because of time limit. After the exam I tried to solve same questions that I did wrong during exam.I got right. How was the Math section. It was same as in teas study prep package or different.English and reading, science in 70s.I saw Sanjose state website but next schedule exam is in march and I believe that is not for me because Evergreen takes sooner and they not allowed me to take in March.Computer based exam is also time based or is computer based exam allowed to take break after each section?.How will evergreen administered the exam ?Do you have any Idea.paper or computer based.

Hi RKMaini,

It's my pleasure to help. :) The math section on the ATI Test Prep was harder than the actual exam. The word problems are mainly percentages, like percent off of items purchased, percentage change, etc. I would definitely try to work on getting the problems done during the time limit because you cannot go back to a prior section once the time for that section is up on the TEAS exam. For the computer based exam, it is timed as well but there is a timer in the upper right corner of the webpage that lets you know how much time you have left. Between each section of the computer exam I was able to get up and take a break. The testing center I took the TEAS at was called Success Testing Center in Sunnyvale. I would contact the nursing coordinator at EVC for which type of exam they administer just so you know in advance. I liked the computer exam because the ATI Test Prep is all on the computer so I feel like I got used to taking the practice quizzes and what not on the computer and it helped me on my actual exam. However, the paper exam was nice because I could use process of elimination and mark off answers that I knew were wrong directly on the paper. I would just go with what you feel most comfortable with. If you prefer taking tests on paper, I would do the paper exam.

Hey guys,

when is the TEAS transcript deadline? Did adrienne give a date?

Hi,

I believe the students who got passing score sent there transcripts now,but I am not sure about the date.

I have one question ?

Do we are allowed to take exam twice after receiving email?

I mean if I give my exam in first week of February and unfortunately if don't get passing score then we can give again in evergreen valley college.

I am thinking because this way get one more chance and also less nervousness going in EVC to give exam.

If you take it and don't pass it you will be placed on remediation for one year to study and re take the test and start the program following fall.

Any updates from nursing office yet?

Nope, not yet. Still waiting for a follow up email confirming they received my TEAS score.
