Everest Ontario ca. Said I need to do MA before the RN program?

Published

Today I called Everest Ontario asking about the RN program. They told me they won't accept me into the program because I have no medical experience unless I do the MA program? I don't think I can afford West Coast but I haven't really looked into it to much either... I don't know if I should try to go to ACC and do the VN program, that way I can bridge over with WCU or do I do the MA at Everest? The other thing is Everest RN program is a associates, where WCU is a BSN... I'm confused!!!

I'm sorry but that sounds like a rip off to me; I am sure other posters from your area will chime in sooner or later.

I suggest looking into a community college and getting pre-req's and completing your nursing education at a community college or university; especially if your area is BSN preferred.

Best Wishes.

I know someone going to a for profit college, sorry don't know which one, but they pulled the same thing on her. After she was about halfway thru the ADN RN program they claimed they changed the format and were now requiring her to get an MA first before she could finish her ADN. She has plenty of healthcare experience working as a float CNA. She feels stuck because apparently this college's course's are not transferable to other colleges. That sounds like a bad sign to me! It will cost her many more thousands and it seems obvious the only reason they are doing this is to force student's to stay in college longer and pay a lot more tuition! For profit's are not your friend!

My advice is stay away from for profit colleges! They have much higher student loan default rates. Go to a non profit school, preferably a community college that will be the most reasonable for tuition. You don't get paid more for having gone to an expensive private college, you are just stuck with more student loans!

Everest College is a subsidiary of Corinthian Colleges Inc., the for-profit educational corporation that is currently in national news as it's being forced to close their operations due to shady business practices. I would stay away from Everest College like the plague.

You are also considering West Coast U., another for-profit with tuition of $132,000 for their traditional BSN degree program. Please save yourself and DON'T DO IT!

You are also considering American Career College (ACC), another for-profit with tuition of $30,000+ for their LVN program. Actually, ACC and WCU are owned by the same parent company. Please save yourself and DON'T DO IT!

The nonprofit route would be your best bet for now. In addition, if you want to be a nurse, skip the MA training. MA is part of the medical model of care provision, whereas nursing has its own nursing model. Good luck to you.
