It regulary happens that someone posts a question or brings up a topic, and is immediately told "This has been discussed before. Do a search."
Then-
When someone does a search and posts in the threads they find, someone will tell them "Did you notice how old this thread is?"
I remember when I first joined, there was a fascinating thread regarding the relative value of an ADN vs. a BSN. Numerous people objected to that dead horse, but as I was still working on my ADN, it seemed very pertinent to me. I'm glad it was finally made a sticky, so it's a lot easier just to skip over it and not have to rehash it ad nauseum.
OK, I'll admit, I still peek once in a blue moon to see if anyone has thought of anything new to say. Also, just when I'm ready to unsubscribe from "Nurses Eating their Young," I tend to have some brilliant insight. But, really, it's starting to feel a bit played, too.
It's a problem, though, because there are people here with 10-20,000 posts, so I have a lot of catching up to do...

Okay, so this is probably cheating...but I wondered if it could be done.
Think of it as my tribute to one of my favorite people.
Thanks for everyones feedback everyone, it's always nice to hear so many comments. Obviously a topic of interest to many.
With our new search box, it only takes a few seconds to search for some keywords, and then just copy and paste the long address code like and share it. It can help point a newbie into the right direction at least.

I know this thread is 2 months old (ha ha ha), but I love the original question. It is so true!! You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
I really don't come here mucj any more, but every once in a while I will get an e-mail about a post made to a subscribed thread. When I look at it, I will see how old the thread was. If the OP was asking a time specific question (like, "I am going to take NCLEX next month, help me", and someone gives advice two years later) I think it is kind of amusing to read the replies after.
I know that I am an 'immeidate gratification' type of gal, who cannot be bothered to search too far about a topic. I will look about 2-3 pages, then give up and post a new thread.

nowhere in my post did i say anything about closing a thread due to boredom. in fact, we have never closed a thread due to us "being bored." only and only if there is a violation to the terms of service with this website, which just so happens to be common with certain thread subjects!!! we actually go out of the way to not close down threads....if only you could see what goes on behind the seens in the staff forum!!! i do not expect you or any other member to know or realize how much the staff puts into this site. i do it because i love this site, not for the recognition. we only ask that members follow the terms of service, which they agreed to when they signed up (everyone remember clicking yes?). like i said certain threads bring tos violations. yet, we still do not close it down, we wait to see if there will be a tos violation. as far as old post, i've already stated that if there is something that is closed that a poster would like to add to, the only thing they would have to do is pm the moderator or admin with what they want (to add a comment, etc). we are fair and here to help!!
