EVC Nursing 2022

Published

Hey guys! Just wanted to start a page for the Fall 2022 cycle at EVC. This is my first time applying and I'm hoping to apply with 85 points. Curious if this is competitive compared to previous years? It'd also be nice if y'all can share your scores ?

Yes! Last year cut off was low 60’s so we have a good chance!

My daughter’s EVC application status still shows “submitted”. I wonder why?

She attended EVC for her Health Science two-year degree. She transferred to SJSU for Public Health, so she could take upper division general education (areas R, V, and Z). Since she plans to complete the RN to BSN someday. Instead of three semesters, she is hoping to complete in two.

If none of the public schools accept her, I guess she will need to go to Unitek. Samuel Merritt and USF are far from us plus they are also difficult to get acceptance. I’m not scared by the cost, my daughter would need to remain living at home after getting a job for an additional year or so to payoff the student loans.

I think Unitek would still work out, for the SJSU RN to BSN. She already completed her lower division general eduction at EVC, then she would be given 20 units for having her RN. Finally, she would need to complete the RN to BSN courses. As long as she has a BSN from SJSU, I think future employers would look favorably at her.

What are others doing if you are not accepted by public schools?

First and foremost how awesome is that you're so supportive with your daughter's RN journey. I did see that EVC has the Integrated Community College BS Nursing Pathway and I think her credits and all of that fits that accelerated program.

My best advice is for her to apply to other ADN programs in the bay area like Chabot, Marin, Merrit, Hartnell and a bunch more before applying to Unitek. Samuel Merrit is an excellent school, but if you go to this website it shows how many other community college are in the TOP 50 ADN RN programs and Chabot would be #1 https://www.registerednursing.org/state/california/

Applications are still open for some of the ADN schools for this coming FALL 2022, so have her apply and see where it takes her before paying that X amount money on Unitek. I mean I understand in the end its about pass the NCLEX but at the same time clinical rotations shape student nurses and most of the community colleges have excellent clinical rotations!

Has anyone seen updates or changes when viewing their application??

no same thing under review .... but stay hopeful!

My application hasn't seen any activity other than when I edited and submitted it in October. Is this the same for anyone else and is this likely a bad sign?

Mine has said under review and edited last on December 16th. My friends still says submitted as well. I know the school said they had over 400 applicants, I think they have to review everyone’s to be fair.

Yup! I don’t think it means anything else besides literally they are reviewing the application.
