Eugene OR? Jobs? Schools?

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hi all -

I am working on my LPN degree, and will be done in May. My husband is looking at a job in Eugene OR, and I'm wondering how the job market is out there. Also, I'd like to continue on for my ADN/RN, and am wondering if there are any schools with an LPN-to-RN program?

THANK YOU FOR ANY INFO!

Michelle

Michelle - I am living in Eugene, and really think its a great place. Rains a lot, but at least you don't have to spend the winter digging your car out of the rain. And you do get used to it. The rain that is.

Anyway, regarding hospitals. The largest is Sacred Heart (PeaceHealth) which is in Eugene, but will be moving to Springfield soon when they build their new, larger hospital. Springfield is our "sister" city. One side of the street is Eugene and the other is Springfield.

The other hospital is McKenzie Willamette, in Springfield, although (and I can't keep all this straight since it seems to change a lot) they may be building a larger facility as well and may even be moving to Eugene.

Lane Community College has an ADN program, although it seems to be quite tough to get into (may be easier if you are already an LPN - I don't know) and the University of Oregon has a BSN program.

If you'd like any more info feel free to ask, O.K.?? Good Luck :D

Click on admissions info and then go to the link about Advanced Placement for LPN's

It is true that the program is competetive for those who are just completing their pre-reqs and going for an ADN, unsure about those who are already an LPN. I imagine you'll have it a little easier ; )
