Has anyone taken this course? It is the phase 1 portion, and phase 2 is a 12 week classroom course. Both are provided by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Phase I is tough, but very interesting, and a passing grade is 80%, and no less. Also, I'm on a short time-line d/t I have to be finished by March 23rd in order to start phase 2 on April 23rd [started the first of January].

Anyway, just wanted to chat with anyone that has been there & done that, i.e. ECCO course.

Thanks!

We arrived at new residence [Tumwater, WA] on the 14th & my PC went live w/Comcast high speed internet the following afternoon. My immediate goal has been to complete the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation online course by the Army deadline of April 4th. Normally, you have 12 months to complete the course, yet I was given only 90 days.

I have successfully taken four exams since the 15th. I have only one remaining to finish the course, which should take me NLT this Thursday [Mar 30th]. I don't report to Ft Lewis until April 3rd. So, looks like Susan & I will be able to have some sight-seeing fun time before I report.

I didn't like the online course. I don't feel as though I got enough information to apply it to patient care. Then again, I don't learn much by reading-but more so by talking things out and getting rationales for why something is or isn't correct. Plus the narration sometimes mispronounces things.

Look at it like this... this type of course is good for theory based learning. IMHO, the course gives you good knowledge for a better understanding to use towards direct patient care, rather than as a replacement for hands on experience.

It was a great program. Sadly my region never kept up payments and I never got to finish.
