Essentials of Critical Care Orientation

I am not sure what this is. Is it a class being offered at a university? Continuing education?

For continuing ed, I think that anything of interest where you can learn something new is a good thing.

If this is a class that is for/at somewhere/something else, I would think about it--IF critical care is of interest to you going forward. IF you have the ability to land a CC position in your current facility. IF you are wanting to certify in CC. And if you are looking for a CC cert, I would look up what exactly is required to receive that certification.

This is an online class called essentials of critical care orientation. I have taken it some years back as a new RN. I though it was a great intro to icu nursing concepts. If you are looking to get into critical care as a new nurse, then this class is probably a great thing.

Ok thanks i was interested in transitioning into Critical Care and was searching online and discovered it and was wondering if it was worth it if it was helpful to @ RyanCarolinaBoy then it will probably be helpful to me thanks for your input.

Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) is a course offered by AACN that grants 68 CEU's to those who complete it successfully. There are multiple modules that break down patients into systems and covers common ICU conditions that you may encounter in practice.

I do not recommend you take this course unless you are starting in the ICU. Some of the concepts such as hemodynamic monitoring requires you to also have a hands on approach especially with PA catheters. Most places will offer ECCO as part of their orientation process free of charge.

My hospital made me do it as a apart of orientation and I got paid for it. Don't pay for it it's a good course but have your employer foot the bill.
