hey i am a pre-nursing student in so cal and is it me or is almost (and that is an overstatment) every cc or university impacted for nursing majors? i finally found a place to go at a cc but i wouldnt be able to start the nursing program until 2010 :imbar because of prerequisites issues and now i am finally at a university (because it is private and = $$$) and i am finally in but its just amazing that this particular major is SOOO impacted its not even funny.
oh and another thing that maybe you all can relate to me about is ALL OF THOSE DARN PREREQUISITES!!!! i mean most programs will not exept you unless you got the basic science coursse, and thats understand able but all that darn book work and time better help with that major.
i am just a little scared because i will have the prerequisites done in summer 2009 [and thats because those prerequisites have prerequisites err:banghead:] so i can start the program in fall of 2009 (as i said, those prerequisites are a pain in my tushy and my time!!!) so but the only problem is that i have to apply to the program in the middle of spring 2009, i mean i dont want to wait a whole other year to start the program because schools cant suck it up and take "courses in progress"...
anyone relate to this mess?:stone

You just gotta keep your head up high if this is something you really want.
I don't know your situation all that well but maybe you could consider relocating?
If you're not financial aid or scholarship dependent, then just take the classes in stride. If you're like me, scholarship dependent (I have to have 12 hours for each fall/spring semester) I only have 3 hours left of prer's and am stuck with having to take 9 hours of random crap.
I can relate to your frustration but only you can make up your mind if it's worth it to wait.
The science classes are demanded because there are so many qualified applicants that something has to set you apart from the others. Being a CNA or volunteering at a nursing home or at the hospital can help make your profile shine.
I used to be pre-med and the chancellor of LSU med told my pre-med group that he would rather see a student volunteering to shovel bed pans at a the local nursing home than a student shadowing a world-class brain surgeon.. it shows character and willing to do anything.
That's kind of off topic but.. you can see what he means and the LSU nursing school down here feels the same way.. do something to set yourself apart.
Everyone has a gpa & test score, what do you have that they don't?
yeah that is true but experience isnt the problem, its the classes and all the prerequisites is the problem, anyone could go volunteer but if you dont have the academic side making a dent then experience wont do anything either... but i appreciate the uplifting and honest.
it means alot more than you think...
