I have been a paramedic for 20+ years. Graduated a few monhs ago with a MSN. Ideally I would like to work in the ER/trauma. This week I have gotten several calls for interviews and have a ER walk thru/shadow scheduled for later in the week.
Its a smaller more rural hospital. Any tips on what to look for/ask?

Having been in a rural hospital, I would probe their surge capacity. My first hospital was just me, a doc, and a tech overnight. We were sometimes overwhelmed and it created untenable situations. Occasionally, the local EMS crew would come help but that depended on the crew and their relationship with the nurse. Volunteer fire would come if called but that was dicy because it wasn't their responsibility and they were volunteers.
Then there was the time I came down with a kidney stone while at work and couldn't get anybody to answer the phone to come relieve me and assume care of my patients.
