after ER interview

Please advise. I interviewed for the ED in my NYC inner city hospital 1 week ago. I have almost 8 yrs experience in this same hospital. I work on a busy cardiac tele unity now. I feel the interview went very very well. It was a "group" interview, and very relaxed. I have a good rep in this hospital and made good friends on every unit I've worked.

My current manager informed me that the ED manager called her for a reference THE DAY I interviewed, and that she (my current manager) gave me a GREAT one (which I really do deserve)

she hates to see me go, but is supportive. It's been a week now and I have not heard anything except there are a few more interviews left early this week.

I believe there are 3-4 positions open. I can't stand the suspense! Is there any advice out there except for "just be patient", LOL? Also, any advice for a seasoned RN going to the ED?

thanks.

Hopefully you will hear something soon. Did you follow up with a thank you letter after the interview? I would follow up with the ED manager re: the status of the positions. You want her to remember your name when it comes time to make the hiring decision.

I went from tele to ED and I absolutely love it! I have definitely found my niche in nursing. The best advice I can give you that really determines your attitude is don't be influenced by other's negativity. You will encounter a lot of "repeat visitors" and you will hear lots of comments about them. Just remember, while some are merely drug seekers, some have valid issues and regardless, their visits do pay your salary.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out for you!

thanks Wendy! Yes, I did send a thank-you letter the day after the interview. From all accounts everything went well, but i am getting anxious now. I did just send her a little inquiry re: status of positions but I don't want to appear to be a pest or too eager :(.

I will let you know the outcome.

Thanks for the good advice, I will remember it!
