EPIC documentation check list

Published

I am a new grad who started working in a hospital with EPIC a month ago. Due to to complexity of the charting, being ESL, and a 2 finger typer, I was given 2 weeks to get my charting done with accuracy and in adequate speed, or I will be let go.

Any suggestions on a good check list to help with this? Also with education, discharge, admit notes? I'd be most grateful for any & all help.

I think Apple ought to design a computer charting program. THEN people might actually be able to use it.

Or Google. Gcharting or icharting would be awesome.

I agree learning to type will serve you well in the long run.

But I'm a little puzzled... Epic doesn't really require whole lot of typing, but tons of clicking boxes. Could it be navigating around the chart that's taking long? I would recommend talking to the hospital IT people to get more training. If they won't provide you with formal classroom training, you could ask if you can use their training folder so that you can practice on your own.

If anyone wanted to try to contract Apple, I would happily donate to the cause!

Or Google. Gcharting or icharting would be awesome.

Just wanted to thank all of you for all the helpful comments & ideas, I greatly appreciate it.

Having worked in different parts of healthcare I've come to the conclusion that the people who write the programs & design equipment don't actually use it.
