where can I get a place to put streaming video?

I figured since you were entrepreneurs and all, you could steer me in the right direction.

I need to put some video out on a website (about an hour all together) for a collection of labs. I've got the software to edit but the website it came with only has 10mb that's only good for 5 min of stream....lame:rolleyes: .

I've got about 30 minutes right now and I need somewhere to post but I don't know what I really need. One site sells 500mb of disk space for $14 a month but mentions realvideo streaming as a $99 upgrade. Another site sells you 100mb for $24 a month but doesn't say anything about streaming and besides 100mb isn't much when you're talking video............................My head is about to explode!............uhmmm........maybe I'll get that on tape.......Anyhoo, anybody know where to go for help or to get this 30min put out on a site that students can get to with phone lines as well as cable?

I had been hoping someone on the BB would know of an answer for you; I do not.

When there is an entrepeneural question though, I ask the folks @ NNBA or National Nurses in Business Association. There is a membership fee but she might give you a clue as to where to research the answer without joining. The presidents name is Pat and I find her most knowledgable and helpful. There seems to be dozens if not hundreds of web hosting companies that off some kind of streaming audio/video service.

Knowing that a web hosting company offers large disk space is good. Also knowing what the company's alloted bandwidth usage is also very important. Streaming audio and video not only can take up a lot of disk storage space, it can also eat up the bandwidth usage especially if there are a lot of people who view your videos.

There's a lot to consider. One thing to think about is what format of video streaming to use. There's the RealPlayer type, there's the Windows type, and there are at least two other types as well.

30 minutes of streaming video is a lot of video. It seems like that not only will it take up a fair amount of disk space, but it will quickly eat up the alloted bandwidth usage which is usually between 5 to 15 GB/month.

I'm not an expert on the subject of streaming media. I do have a web site with mp3 files (original music). MP3's are condensed audio files and still take up a fair amount of disk space. Luckily my web hosting company provides a fairly decent amount of storage space assigned to my web hosting plan. Also, I've noticed an increase in bandwidth usage as more people listen to the mp3 files. Although the bandwidth usage is no where near the max. GB/month. I can see that if I add video streaming, bandwidth usage will go up significantly.

There is a lot to consider when wanting to stream media (audio and/or video).
