Entrance exam

I graduated 13 years ago and took the NET a few months ago...passed the first time in the 98th percentile. I didn't think it was hard...however, I would still recommend finding a study guide to refresh your skills. I did.

In order to pass these entrance exams you'll need to know how to read and write at an eighth grade level. Additionally, you will need to be able to do math at a fifth grade level. The math exam tends to test your ability to do fractions, decimals, percentages, division, and other basic concepts. Brush up on the fundamentals of reading and math if you think your basic skills might be rusty from a lack of use.

I just took my NLN this morning! the math section was the easiest for me, the reading part of the english was easy, but the vocab was NOT. and the science was off and on. i am so nervous about the results!

Most people I know have purchased a GED book and practiced the math, reading and science from there. I had to take an entrance exam for the college I attended, but it was not like the NLN, TEAS, or other exams I am hearing about. It was only math and reading. I was never great in math, so, I took a class that prepared me to take the exam, so, I was very fortunate to have gotten an excellent instructor who basically ironed out all that was needed to pass that exam. When I started my college courses, I did not have to take remedials. Maybe you can borrow a GED book from the library. And if you don't feel you would be ready by next week, then, maybe inquire when the next test will be administered. Most of these exams are sort of competitive, so, you want to have the highest advantage possible. Good luck!

I took my HESI entrance exam last Friday. I graduated from high school ten years ago and got an 89 on the test. It was a little harder than I thought it would be. I wasn't prepared to add/subtract fractions. My friend just failed the vocabulary part because she wasn't brushed up on her medical terminology. I thought the grammar was the easiest for me because I'm weird about that anyway, just make sure you know the difference between their/there/they're and when to use them. To me that was about the degree of difficulty on the grammar. I didn't have any science on the test. The reading comprehension was they would give a couple of paragraphs to read and then I would have 4-5 questions to answer. The paragraph was still on the screen so I could look back at it if I needed to. The part I scored lowest on that was the questions that said something like, "The writer of the paragraph is implying..." then a multiple choice list of answers. I didn't get one of the study guides or books. I just scheduled my test and took it the next day and did okay. However, if I had known more about the test I definitly would have brushed up more on my math skills. Good luck!
