entrance exam to RN program?

Hello everyone,

I am very eager to join in a RN program, so I come here for advice.

I get to know that a lot of RN programs have the entrance exam called TEAS(Test of Essential Ability Skills) by ATI.

For some community colleges, only those who get 95% of all the test questions correct can get accepted into the RN program. Is it really so competitive?

If you have taken this exam and have been admitted into the RN program, can you tell me how many score you get?

Can I get some advice from you about that exam? Thanks a lot.

Isabel

I was just wandering about your experience wiht the NLN exam...did you know that you did well after the exam? I took it today and felt a bit rushed on the verbal and the math. Pasha :)

We had to take NLN exam. All you have to get is in the 50% range to pass. However, if you do better, you get points for admission. I got in the 85% range and earned 2 points.

I wouldn't worry too much. I thought I did badly but I was suprised when I got my results. We had about 216 questions. I don't think they counted the extra 16 because they use those for future tests as some sort of control data. I didn't finish the math, so I just bubbled in the ones I didn't finish. When I did the verbal, I did the vocabulary words first and then the stories because of the time constraint. I think they use some sort of formula to figure the 50% score, I don't think that they just take half of the questions. I already had taken A&P so the science seemed a little easy except for the physics questions. It's been 20 years since I took physics.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the inspirational message!

There were 60 questions on the verbal, 54 on the math and 80 on the science....and an hour for each! Anyway, it will be a long 2 weeks, I'm just a bit anxious...thanks again! Pasha :)
